Hi, I’m Julie, the owner of Julie Long Interiors! I am passionate about creating modern homes with classic charm and relaxed appeal that have a calming effect on our busy lives.

I grew up in the country on the land in a home with classic charm and lived life at a relaxed pace. Living now in Sydney I believe that our homes are our sanctuary from the busy world we live in. Creating a tailored functional layout with the classic charm and a muted palette takes me back to that calm time in my life on the land. It is this sense of calm that I love to come home to after a busy day.

My career began in the corporate world of marketing but left that 14 years ago to follow my love of design and building. I began working in my husband’s pool construction business and renovating and building homes with him. Here I learnt the lingo of the construction industry and went on to complete a Diploma in Interior Design and a Certificate 4 in Decorating. 

I am also a wife and a mum to two very busy boys, both now in high school and one about to move onto uni. As such I understand how our homes need to grow with the different stages of out children’s lives. My boys have also shown me that our homes need to be practical but they can also be beautiful. My other loves include having a cuppa with my friends and family, travel, good food, wine and getting back to the Hunter Valley whenever I can.

I started my Interior Design business to help busy families create the calm sanctuary that they will love to come home to. I can help you navigate the sometimes-stressful times of a renovation or new build. I use my space planning knowledge and design skills to help families create function yet beautiful rooms that fit the needs of the people that use the space. I love to use classic features to add charm and warmth to a home and layer a muted palette over the top to give a sense of comfort and serenity.
